Sam Preve Poems

Unwrapping the clear wrapper
Sliding the striped red stripped oval
Between teeth, tonguing it
Softly and slowly at first,
...

At home, sleeping, turning from one side to another,
we awaken to a dull brown ground dressing,
another hamburger and super-sized fries with a biggy coke,
choking on the time, an attendance sheet for slavery.
...

Christianity,
compensation
lacking
imagination.
...

bags, paper, and boxes

made into little shreds
...

Why
Go on with this
Lie,
...

Brings-a-new
Light-traveled
Tunnel-to-be.
It’ll-be-fun,
...

an EDUCATION they call IT...

I stay awake barely able,
Desk-sitting-Wasn't I suppose to
...

There is a pain I feel
Inside the missing words
Stab deep into the heart.
...

Unwrapping the clear wrapper
Sliding the striped red stripped oval
Between teeth, tonguing it
Softly and slowly at first,
Then quickening the pace
Of continual strokes in,
Next, up and back into mouth,
Just scrapping the roof a little.
Sighs as it is rubbed into excitement.
Standing tall lifting away from the skin it
Once laid limp by,
Head grows aware as white clears,
Sudden rapture, you exhale,
Refreshingly cool breath.
