SHARON YAKOWA Poems

Love came to me some years ago
It wasn't sad, it wasn't lonely
I guess it was my ego,
It made me to big to notice.
...

In this world of words
Woes, purpose yet so cold
In this world so empty
Yet of gold.
...

My father my teacher
A Christian by faith
whose ways were prudent and bright as day,
Never gave reason to hate yet you wonder day by day his ways.
...

Through you and with you
Dancing and laughing
...

Here we go again
Calling each other names
Acting insane
For what has been described as vain
...

Desire
The twinkling of stars on a balmy night
Are as passionate as the look of her lovely sight, dashing with fire
Leaving my heart with desire.

I Knew Love

Love came to me some years ago
It wasn't sad, it wasn't lonely
I guess it was my ego,
It made me to big to notice.

I knew love
Not when we were together
Not when love had me spinning in circle
And acting like I was in a circus.

All along it was with me
Side by side, sparking like the stars
Oh yes it was jealous, oh yes it was beautiful and oh yes it was everything they said it would be like.

I was with love yet I was searching for it, it was beside me, holding my hearts with its bare hands
Yet I betrayed it,
I cursed it
I abused it and here I am now praying for it.

I knew love but then I didn't know what love was about.
