She stood in the corner
where she tried to hide.
She had been beaten
and she felt dead inside.
...
I see a huge climbing tree
with love inscribed on wood,
carved initials in a heart
where true love surely stood.
...
The night was one of beauty
and she knew it would be great.
The thoughts of fun and laughter
and most of all her date.
...
I glanced in the mirror
and my looks caused a strain.
My image was sloppy
and my appearance was plain.
...
You are the kind of friend
that wipes away the tears.
You comfort like an angel
that also calms my fears.
...
The day was coming to a close
for the fearful and the weary,
preparing for a peaceful night
I saw something black and hairy.
...
They have raised their weapons
against me that I might know.
After all that I've been through
there is no broken heart to show.
...
I'm sending you some humor
to brighten up your day,
may you smile or even laugh
and feel that life's okay.
...
I looked out the window to my past
and found the memories hard to bear.
I saw more than I wanted to
in the glass that made me stare.
...
I send thank you wishes
for showing such care.
When I was feeling hurt
you were always there.
...
I went in search of beauty
and with feeling looked around,
I noticed much in my path
where beauty could be found.
...
It sneaks up behind me
and the chill is bitter cold.
I feel like giving up on life
besides that I'm getting old.
...
My phone sits on the table
where it gathers dust.
I can't dial the numbers
with anxiety and little trust.
...
Christ was put up on a cross
and treated with much hate
They said to condemn him to death
when his innocence was great.
...
I drove too slow on the streets
and my parallel park, oh well!
I backed too far into an intersection
but in my mirror I couldn't tell.
...
I call her 'Best friend'
and she stands rather strong.
She's been through a lot
on days that go wrong.
...
When you both met
everything worked out great.
You fell in love
and left out any hate.
...
I thought much of my past
and wished time would stand still.
I was afraid to turn forty
because it seemed all uphill.

After dark we have a blast
with flashlights in the night.
We play with the shadows
until daylight hides the sight.

My Teddy Bears are trouble,
they spilled milk on the floor.
They scribbled on the wall
and used red marker on the door.

Beaten Inside
She stood in the corner
where she tried to hide.
She had been beaten
and she felt dead inside.
The fight was over
or that's what she thought.
Once again the punches
proved she was caught.
She tried to escape
all the pain felt inside..
She quickly passed out
with the tears she cried.
'Nobody likes you! '
The words echoed aloud.
She was left on the ground
and the bullies were proud.
Nobody saw the danger
nor did they seem to care.
They called her names
and left her lying there.
Suddenly all was quiet
and she awoke to the night.
With fear in her heart
she survived a bad fight.
Alone among shadows
she arose with the pain.
Unsteady she wandered
in the thunder and rain.
She could not be herself
and be accepted by friends.
So, she took many pills
thinking that's how life ends.
Her greatest desire
was to be loved and wanted.
But, so many were cruel
and she was often taunted.
She never met the morning
for death came her away.
Free from the broken
and the dread of the day.
The threats and the hate
were too much to bear.
These are the days
when suicide cures despair.
