Rivers
Rivers
The rivers have changed their course, have taken another bend
not known to me, unfamiliar to my mind, to my life,
they have, perhaps hastened to meet the other sea.
And now when I walk towards them. they fail to recognise me,
I, who once sat on the river banks all day long, sharing
with them my thoughts, my longings, my victories, my failures.
Perhaps, when they rise in spate, spilling over the banks,
they shall, then come to me to be rescued from the deluge
for they know, even when turning away, that I'll always be there...
