Stephanie Breuer Poems

Bored out of our minds, we are on train rides.
No means to sleep, no topics left.
Eternal landscapes rushing by
and yet -

2.

How to write this I don't know,
At least not yet.
But let me begin
Before I forget!
...

I love you so my wandering Star
Sometimes so near and then so far
You seem to seek the light of day
Let me help you if I may
...

I hear a song
A song so sweet
The chanting of a little thrush
At dawn
...

I don't know why
I have to try
My life is dull
My life is void
...

Tearing up the streets, hunting for treasures.
Day in, day out, digging deep holes,
Hoping to find gold or diamonds.
Such an effort; all in vain.
...

So often my friends and me
glide, slide, trail or race
over the
bumpy, smooth or ruffled
...

Long ago,
It seems another world:
A world of wonders - worry-less,
So far away...
...

Train Rides

Bored out of our minds, we are on train rides.
No means to sleep, no topics left.
Eternal landscapes rushing by
and yet -
nothing to catch the eye.

Blurs of green and brown,
indistinguishable dots of colour flying by,
unlike time,
which seems to stop -
and never move on.

A whole different dimension
in that we're stuck
just as long as the wheels keep turning.
Seconds become minutes, minutes become hours
and hours become days...

Why doesn't it end?
When are we there?
The world is calling
BUT
we're stuck!

A sudden jolt, a whistle,
we are there!
Full of joy, we hop out the door
unto the platform
towards freedom and adventures.
