Sule Abdulai Poems

As the bald trees
Sway gaily in the breeze
We see undying love
Ready to fall from above
...

I am to blame
For being the Judas of the game
I turn your days awful
Turned your soul sorrowful
...

'The pill did not work
Afraid am I
Can't carry this child
Clear this
...

Here I stroll in the midst of darkness
In the veil of throbbing songs
In the circles of faraway crows
Sparking the rage of lonely roads
...

I am me
Suleman, Wineyam
The cripple who walks on the moon
I eat my thoughts in silence
...

Rain In The Dry

As the bald trees
Sway gaily in the breeze
We see undying love
Ready to fall from above

Soon the sky sheds tears
Tears to wash off our fears
No more will we die of thirst
No more will blood melt into sweat

The thirsty land will taste rain
And lost hope we will regain
While dry year turns to wet season
The sick crops will grow green

Be praised! Rain Maker, the merciful
Our empty pots are full
The farms are no more bedevilled
Savage hunger you have killed
