The Best Poem Of Sun Principe

Wandering

At the edge of the water comes rock
Formations….

Big bold strong, jagged..
I used to be like that…

Now I wander..
Wondering how I wandered so far from home.

It all looks familiar,
But the sea air is not the same.

The Pacific is not my home,
It is beautiful here

Cypress and Mexican sage,
Ice plant hugging the jagged coast..

But I long for the familiar….
Foghorn,

clock tower bell….
Ringing in the dinner hour.

I escape to Big Sur
look for a place

To hide,
Deep in the forest

Safe
In the refuge of

My friend the redwood tree.
Watch the babbling brook,

I am at peace here amongst the ferns.
I dream of the Cape in the quiet blue hours.

This is not my home,
But the earth mother embraces me like a lost child.

I return the favor with
Photographs.

How beautiful she is in the morning light,
Or at evening tide.

Inside the giant redwood,
I hear her voice.

The first mother,
The only mother that I have now.

Calling me back to the Atlantic shore.
Salt, sand and sea foam.

Frozen winter beach,
Howling wind and great eastern sun.

Quick is my photo mind,
Pages of books covered in snapshots

Cool waters on both sides
Comforting me

Until I return again.
