Tanner Herndon Poems

Rich with insanity,
Thick with hate,
Drunk with love,
Stinking of confusion,
...

Eyelashes stuck in time,
Falling like leaves,
Stuck to our faces, they cling to safety,
Never wanting to let go,
...

I left the door to my heart cracked open,
I lured you in with curiosity,
But what you saw, shocked you to the core,
You must have cried lava, when you saw what was in this heart,
...

Come forth to write, leave not a thought,
To rot,
But a common enemy, in my mind,
Is set to stone, as the gargoyle,
...

I have an inside joke
With Death-
'Knock, Knock, '
Who's there?
...

I can ask nevermore,
That you seek comfort from these limbs,
I am rooted in a soil far more damning than,
Anything you have ever seen,
...

Nobody dies alone,
Death, will not allow this,
Death will be right there waiting,
His black crow's wings spread open wide,
...

I walked into the Barbershop
Dressed in all black;
The barber sat me down in a
Leather chair that swiveled
...

The silk after taste, of drinking
Your eyes, the texture of dreams,
As you make them arise:
I am far from forbidding elation, with you

Love.
And, how can you be in
Something in which you know
Nothing about?

Manageable death
Manageable life
Manageable secrets
And laughter that the

Furniture and flesh
Dusty and cracked,

Topaz eyes,
Cleaned thoroughly from crying,
Shined for the occasion,
And her hair is in onyx curls,

Why do people want to come back to life
After death?
Death is the best part of living;
The treat after the trick,

Hoarfrost coats all white, as if the world was sprinkled with cocaine,
In nature, the snow remains clean and untouched,
In cities and towns alike, we turn it a decaying black,
Nothing is safe from our ugly touch,

Leave behind you cold memories, frozen in time,
And let not revivification, let them thaw,

Nothing Is Eternal

Rich with insanity,
Thick with hate,
Drunk with love,
Stinking of confusion,
Sleeping with desperation,
Cheating with indifference,
Staring down lust,
Foaming at the mouth with greed,
Keeping to myself a secret,
Nothing is eternal, only death,
Death, will never lie to us,
Death, will treat us proper,
Death, will accept us,
Death, will spoil us,
Death, will love us,
Death, will coddle us,
Death, wants us,
And most refuse death,
Why?
It's a better parent than you will ever be.
