Thomas Yarbrough Biography

An Upstate New Yorker,43, whose first muse had always been poetry. Started writing silly lyrics hanging in my sycamore at 10. Later went to college for fine arts, drawing is what I concentrate on now. I like to mix it up in my writing and take different approaches- writing poems half-asleep, documenting dreams, cutting up words and picking them out of a hat (yes, I actually use a hat) , to stuff far more literal.)

Chair She Built

Amnesia warms-over
elephants sitting in a circus of chairs.

The music is stopped
& she is not here
no matter how many times I blink.

There, pirouetting
in the company of elephants
refusing to sit.

Wherever she goes,
carrying the chair she built.
