The Dark Face From Within

More aware as we get older,

knowledge as vast as the rings of Saturn,

I see buildings begin to smolder,

the ruins expand and form a familiar pattern,

seeing stars all throughout the night,

the sun shows that dawn is near,

its glow mixes with the morning twilight,

a tranquil relief from the fear,

all negative energy is temporarily purged,

worry cast and set aside for the moment,

this pleasure is just fleeting,

a stranger who is all too familiar,

as hard to see as when weather is sleeting,

a faceless silhouette hiding behind a stone pillar.

This is the farthest from a stranger,

the faceless form looks similar,

its a part of me absent of anger,

deepest change inside the cellular,

advancement on this molecular level,

the stoic side of souls that are fragile,

held together by the glue of the devil,

the figure adopts traits of a cat becoming so agile,

landing every time on our feet,

slipping into shadows instead of facing any kind of defeat,

as soon as their guard is dropped,

any sense of any armor flaws,

admitting the chaos and suffering never once stopped,

even the toughest and most resilient will be swiped by life's claws.
