A Russian Christmas

Nastarovia kom die roep
Van die ou kasteel se stoep
...

These words are written
from my hands so slow to fully bring to paper
how nervous I was letting out my soul
for you to look and wonder and maybe injure
...

Vasgevang in duisend woorde
Ongesing die ruim akkoorde
Is die ritme van die digter
Sonder voorgee, Effens skugter
...

So as you stand in this fight that you breathe
stand strong with your sword in its sheave
The light that you crave is
but a passing wave
...

My friend who was slain by those who oppose peace in our coutry

Under the shade of the Water mount, stood
A tree that was planted and watered of God
...

Ministering under a tree in the Great Rift Plain of Africa 49 degrees Centigrade.

Under a tree not far from school class
Gather the people for worship or mass

A Poem For A Poet

For Yuri

A poem for a poet…
is not an easy feat
and anyone a trying could easily have cheat,
by taking words with empty meaning
borrowing from a book or reading
and dedicating it someone special as you are.

A poem for a poet…
is not a lightly matter
a serious side it should.
For as it is not just a rhyme
and as it is not just a picture
the poet herself would
perhaps have said it better

A poem for a poet…
should of that person bear
The light side and the dark
If ever so you’d dare
A life entranced with colour
A life in Light and shade and bling
to us many happiness did bring

Our poem for a poet…
is not a somber sonnet
It hails a woman rich with character
And rich in memory and in word
It speaks of “Y” and then of “sommer”
It reaches deep into a soul so
misty and oft so somber

A poem for a poet…
who bears a Gypsy side
should not with other hails and honours
be taken on a lightly stride.
For deep between the eyes of woman
lies the wisdom of a road
by others hardly journeyed.
And in the lavish strokes of brush
the paint belies a story
Of searching for a higher cause
And of a Higher glory

A poem for a poet…
Is easier said than done
So travel on dear lady
And teach how its done…
