My Friend And I

My friend and I have built a wall
its 2 feet wide and ten feet tall
but just enough for me to see
the love he does not feel for me
we built this wall over the years
i had my doubts he quelled my fears
he laid a brick i built the rest
my heart convinced me it was best
somehow that wall between us two
it came to life and grew and grew
but just enough for me to see
the love he does not feel for me
I cried to him to knock it down
he could not hear me not a sound
i begged and pleaded yelled and cursed
yet every word just made it worse
somehow that wall between us two

now we sit my friend and I
and contemplate the how and why
and when my pride becomes so weak
i climb that wall and take a peek
but just enough for me to see
