When I was young I wanted to be free
a life of adventure was the life for me
we took our chances and we had to pay
so high a price that took you away
I memories of all the crazy things we did
but it doesn't make up for not
having you to be with
now I've slowed down and things are okay
I'm a little more careful
and try not to forget to pray
maybe if I would of started
long before today
we'd be kneeling together
until we were old and gray

When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock
And you hear the kyouck and gobble of the struttin' turkey cock
