Treasure Island

(India)

2009 A.D

A page mark of time, the year 2009
people do not rhyme, yet remain fine.

They'd rather listen to music for hours
walk for a mile talking through towers.

Sitting before screen they'd rather chat
for hours they'd gossip once they'd start.

Someone would like to watch only T.V
Sports, soaps and news whatever may be.

Electronic age has made people smart
living in an era of science and living art.

Made me think of Chaplin's film 'Modern Times'. Though the theme is different in the film, the flip side of progress is finely etched in the film and your poem. Write on, voice of time! !
    Cheers.

Certainly your rhymes remain fine. I like your couplets. And your

'people do not rhyme, yet remain fine'.....practically true...youngsters remain fine for they can well organise old age homes....you're competing to land on Everest very fast....let go (Report) Reply

Sort of built Gods and made them into idols. People have made GOLDEN CALF'S as in the days of Moses. A lost sense of priority has erupted greatly. (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
