For Example: love, art, fashion, friendship and etc.

A Crime to Speak the Truth?

Some averred but they're absurd
That we declined
Because our leaders erred.

But now convictions are that our constrictions
Are the fault
Of the shopping restrictions.

We must desist, the lawshall insist
From saying, our decline
Is due to other than The List.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

This poem is a response to the Zimbabwe government's proposal to introduce a law making it a crime to contradict the official line that the country's economic collapse was caused by what they call economic sanctions (in fact little more than a travel embargo on a few individuals held to be responsible for the worst instances of gross human rights abuse.)
