Answering Lawrence S. Pertillar's Question

  Should I try
To be rid of
This burning need,
He asked,
And I reply:

To need,
And not be satisfied...

Or to not need,
And be empty...

The burning question
is this - - would we,
Could we - -
Ever move,
Or get anywhere,
Or make forward progress - -

Or on the final day of our life,
Would we have accomplished
Anything - - Anything at all - -
If we didn't need.

Wisdom penned with economy and eloquence. I believe the need is much more important than its fulfillment. The journey is what is interesting - not the destination. Great poem. love, Allie xxxx
