  As I wait for you here
the whole wide world turns-

storms are raging in the Atlantic
& there's severe draught in Africa;

a plane crashes in Bombay-no survivors;
authorities searching for Black Box;

two new planets discovered in binary star-system,
how long before the cosmic phone stars ringing-if ever?

as I wait for you here...

there's a Russian submarine w/war heads
stranded at the bottom of the North Sea:

a hundred and eighteen men waiting for their
fate in their liquid tomb;

a billion more souls added to the world
this minute,

while the whole wide world turns...

suddenly,

......... Time stops:

.................... you are here.

this is a great poem, using the events of the world as a metaphor for time ticking by, like you're sitting there reading the paper or watching CNN and checking your watch every few minutes; its original and beautifully handled.

What a wonderful poem depicting the events which come to pass while waiting for a much loved one. All the events fade into oblivion and insignificance when that special person appears - Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww! ! ! Beautifully written, romantic and from the heart.I just LOVED reading this poem and thank you for sharing it Jim.10++++ from me.

What a good description of loving another person. Sort of a poetic 'As the World Turns' None of it matters when you see your love appear. I like this a lot.
