Billy The Preacher And The Keeper

Well Billy bent down and kissed the pavement
He praised god, his lord and savior,
He went kicking around out back
Stuck both his legs in a burlap sack,
He danced around the sun for awhile
Though he never stopped he never got tired.
He met a man they called 'The Keeper'
To the man Billy was a preacher,
Billy never let himself get to low
Never walking to fast or running to slow,
He had eyes that looked like stars
They shined so bright and could see so far.
Billy and 'The Keeper' met the king of the moon
He didnt talk much so they assumed,
That he could use a bit of a lift
Sitting on his throne looking like a stiff,
They raised him up just as high as his flag
Then they danced all night to some old time rag.
But then the morning came with lights flashing around
So Billy and 'The Keeper' had to come down,
They got so sad from being so low
That they never woke up on the jail house floor,
Because Billy the Preacher and 'The Keeper'
Had a date with the Grim Reaper.
So never again will Billy kiss the ground
He got so high up he couldnt get down,
He got stuck up in a red wood tree
And he fell harder than any leaf,
'The Keeper' was hung up in the side of the sky
Where he remains to watch the angels cry.
