Blacksmith - Poem by Dino Steffens

I wrote a poem for you the way the blacksmith forges metal into swords
Into the fire of love and the cold water of reason, I hammered meanings and words
You took the poem in your hand, you held it firmly and you stabbed it in my heart
But that's the blacksmith's lot: armor to forge and yet never to feel shielded at heart
