Psaltydog's Thoughts

Castle of Acquafredda Poem by Psaltydog's Thoughts

When life got tough and I needed to think
When emotions soared beyond my drink
I would go to my castle on a hill

Ten miles away from my vanity
An easy climb to serenity
I found peace within my castle on a hill

A grassy knoll above the plain
Walls of ruin are all that remain
Sheltering ghosts in a crumbling domain
I sought solace within my castle on a hill

Today, I know not what to do
Today, my heart is torn in two
I’m six thousand miles from my castle on a hill

I would clear my heart of its cavity
If I could free myself from this gravity
And soar away to my castle on a hill

A grassy knoll above the plain
Walls of ruin are all that remain
The pain within my heart would refrain
Just to walk within my castle on a hill

So, I close my eyes to what is real
I close my mind to what I feel
The surrounding scene seems so surreal
Dreaming, I'm within my castle on a hill
