Circles of You

i set the timezone to berlin
so i could know what time it is
in the last place i knew for certain you were in.

i don’t know why you’ve began to occupy my mind
again.
i hate this circle of you,
but i’ve learned not to question it since everything
always ends with you,

the way every proper sentence must be punctual.

it would make me less sad if you stopped sending messages.
it would make me so happy if we started talking again.

the world was always in the way and
now he is too,
though i was the one that let him
slip a little closer than i should have
when i knew all along it would have to end because of you.

he calls me his
and i can’t say that i am anymore
because of the grip you have on me.

i’d call him mine
but i don’t think that’s right anymore
because of the unsteady hold i have on life.

i wish you would wake me up, slip me out of the sea.
i wish you were the one to rescue me.

Poem of the Day

poet Christina Georgina Rossetti

Where sunless rivers weep
Their waves into the deep,
She sleeps a charmed sleep:
Awake her not.
Led by a single star,
She came from very far
