Competition In The Forest - Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

A seed dropped
By a bird in flight
Or a seed blown
By the roaming wind
Or a seed carried
By the flowing stream
Is sown into earth
And grows into a tree
Tall and straight
In the forest wild.

Another tree
One more on its side
Tree after tree
Rises up and up
To reach the sky
Competing for sunshine
For its nutrition and growth
Roots spread underground
To suck in water
Taller trees get sunshine
Deeper roots get nutrients.

Only the stronger survive
And the weaker get pale
Closeness of the trees
And dense disposition
Enables a flaring fire
Spread everywhere
Leading to destruction
Of full grown trees
And well developed
Homes and dwellings
Animals and people
Suffer disaster.

Forests're our assets
Forests our resources
We need personnel
Who understand well
The science of forestry
And maintenance trends
Forester must cut
The overgrowth
To keep a healthy
Distance between trees
To let them grow
Free and strong
To prevent and control
The spreading blaze.

We need to work hard
To keep forests safe
Let competing trees
Have space to grow
We need every effort
To protect our nature.

Your overwhelming concern for Nature and its conservation is beautifully expressed in this poem... Enjoyed this song on trees! (Report) Reply
