Treasure Island

Amy Darnbrook

Deserted World

A world of my own
Where I go when I'm sad
To do what I wish
Anything, good or bad

Golden beaches
Soft white sand
Cool salty sea
Waving a hand

Towering mountains
Tall and green
Inscriptions on tombstones
I know not what they mean

Magnificent castles
Some of them crumbling
But some of them stand
Amazing, mind-numbing

Dark leafy forests
With dappled sunlight
Glorious sunsets
And moonbeams at night

Millions of miles
Of deserted beauty
I must look after it
It is my duty

After all, no-one else goes there
It is all for only me
From the highest mountain
To lowest sea

I could travel my whole life
And never see it all
But I will never tire
And my world will never fall

Maybe I will find someone
Else there, who knows
I just hope I can always come back
That the door will not close

I'm a Queen on a throne
Looking out over life
And maybe a King will come
And I will be a wife

But my world will always remain
I shall always come back
No matter how often I leave
That is a fact

I have a desterted world
Made for only me
And I will take care of it
It's my home, you see

Maybe it isn't real
But I don't really mind
For it is real to me
If not to all mankind

They just haven't discovered it yet
They can't prove it's not true
They will all see it one day
In the future, and so will you
