Nicholas Nikolov (April.6,1988 / Toronto)
Diminished
Promises made supposedly to remain.
Packaged, however, the immediate
depression and sorrow harpooned
my heart, tightly lodged inside;
sadly it may never be obstructed -
never to soften and eventually vanquishing
the pain that currently resides.
It's not the stinging of sorrow
that hurts the most whence
it first pierced my heart,
but more so, the emotional pain
afterwards that was painfully
coursing through my body;
much like a snake's toxic liquid
after an unseen bite that paralyzes
my long-standing love-induced
passions for you. Except,
with no cure in sight,
that once-upon-a-time
dream of staying together
we shared has closed the book
by the two of us with harshness
and an ending that's not at all
the way we desired it to be.
