First True Love

It's been eight years since we said goodbye
And to this day I don't know why
But every so often I think of you
And those thoughts make me feel so high

Many girls have come and gone
Many loves have bloomed and shone
But I can't shake off the memory
Of how you came to turn me on

I was only sixteen at the time
Yet to reach my adult prime
And true I was young and naive
But your love made me feel sublime

For I will always remember the way
Your enchanting blue eyes led me astray
And those cute little freckles on your nose
It seems like only yesterday

Your perfect body in perfect form
How your caresses felt so warm
Your straight brown hair tucked behind your ears
How the sight of you could brew a storm

I remember the first time that we kissed
How hard it was just to resist
Skipping class to be with you
Those times are what I've always missed

Those memories time can't erase
And no-one else could take your place
Though years ago we had to part
My time with you I'll always embrace

I'll never forget you and I don't intend
You were my first true love and my best friend
Like last night, I still dream of you
And I probably will until the end

Poem of the Day

poet Sir Walter Scott

The moon's on the lake, and the mist's on the brae,
And the Clan has a name that is nameless by day;
Then gather, gather, gather Grigalach!
Gather, gather, gather Grigalach!
