for emily dickinson with due apologies

the image of death
riding a chariot
always irked me
for never did it occur
to me that death is
as royal…

like a child
looking lost in
the village shandy
baffled by all colors
and goodies
setting its eyes on
what catches its fancy
all the while perched on
the father’s shoulders
is how death
comes alive
before my eye…

Fitting tribute, to say the least.

Quite complicated Indira. I find myself looking hard at this piece of poetry. It has a multiplicity of vision that is so enigmatically Eastern.
