Mandolyn ...

giving a care

he sweeps her page and inbox
with wit and old words like
reckon and shin dig-
grasping her by the heart with two
left hands-
truth extends it's pinkie finger
and she surrenders each time...
lets her mind unfold as her body
relaxes to the music
she hears playing on pandora

though his heart is in the sticks
picking up her clever wit
signing off on reality- he really
sees her for who she is
and makes her mingle with the black soul
she left sitting by the fire

fills a bowl with citrus and
lets the acid sting-
it's her eyes that have splinters
but he waters them daily
scrubbing those flecks of gold green~
