Grand Motherless Child I Am - Poem by Gebrela Ganao

Fetching a dream from the riddle box
To Tinker away the misery of yesterday
In an embodiment of grace
and resilience that
only time defines

Grand motherless child, I am

Ought to be doomed
Hatched and left
To care for self
Pay the dues
For those that have left too soon

Grand motherless child, I am

Caught in a snare
in my staggered brain
delusion manifests
in a form of self-deprecating
of taught and perception

Grand motherless child, I am

grasping for normalcy
In a catastrophic tide
Stolen is the livelihood
of scattered childhood
that pieces together
a pure love unlike no other
with it comes the consequences
to bear the losses
of those whom were too dear

Grand motherless child, I am

Walking high and mighty at Thirty-three
Battled an abuse and addiction
Birthright to fail; but
The sprit is amend to heal
Even in times when it is at still

Grand motherless child, I am
