I'D Buy That For A Dollar Poem by Jeffrey Quattlebaum

I'D Buy That For A Dollar

In America
Chicken can be bought
From just about anyone
In America
Everything is by the numbers
And can be delivered
Right to the front door

It’s a maverick of a idea

A plan conceived in liberty
Not intended to be exploited or excused
Can there be too much freedom?
Some would have it as true
“Freedom ought to have it’s limits” says W
And most don’t even care
Caught in the quicksand of nostalgia
Lost in time
Like Walt Disney

In America
Freedom is isolation
Marketed to death
Choking the life out
Of every
Child’s toy
And developers
Develop
And users
Use
Cheap sentiments
we are
The revolting?
The curious?
Those that desire?
Somewhere with a monitor
And a finger
Clutching onto freedom
One click at a time

In America
Death
Is prosperous
For many reasons
And sad
For the same things
And no one
Holds a door open
Not even for
The dying

Everyone wants
Freedom
But by process
And passage
One can always change
The channel
Or record it
And watch it tomorrow

Freedom

The United
Sit or lay together
In recliners
And eyes, ears and nose candy
Absorbing
The freedom
And ordering
Take-out
And war
And the sleep is the same
down there on the avenue.

this is a pretty monumental piece. You touch on alot of themes here. While I may disagree w/ some of your characterizations of America, I like the different style of writing you have, not at all dull or boring, but instead really engaging and unique. Damn good one friend
