Idle - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

The mighty fall like
The amazon rainforests
The meek rise like
Sprouts of spring
The rise and fall of man
A perpetual cycle
A pendulum navigating the poles
Of glory and misery
Yet amidst the turbulence
Of the metamorphosis of being
There exist pillars of man
Telamons and Caryatids
Idly holding their ground
In the echelons of life
