# listen, the body speaks…

it once stood amidst the other
potted plants in full bloom…

it was a play field covered
with the softest green lawn

and now

sometimes it gently
rocks like a boat on
placid river waters

sometimes it gets
caught in the whirlpools
and swirls helplessly

there are times it
raises as the highest wave
that refuses to reach the shore

there are times it’s
just a ship in storm

know that it gets blown
by an unusual wind
and settles in a corner too…

at each stage of its growth
from a tender bud
to a blooming flower
to a stiff stick
and many more
i regaled
i rejoiced
i fought
i stooped
and
i simply succumbed
to its wiles…

i know there comes
a day when the body
becomes simply a burden…
