Love Is Short And Life Is Long - Poem by A.j. Binash
The night before…
Sheets wrinkled under the weight of heavy words.
Linen tickled my toes,
I am very good at confusing reactions
I threw the sheets.
Watched promises splatter on the wall.
Like blood from an exit wound.
Silence, silence, silence.
Sometimes it says more
Than words ever could.
The morning after…
Her house looked like it always did
In my rearview.
But this time there was a feeling
Like I would never see it the same way again.
That's enough motivation
To watch her missed calls
Eek down the screen,
Centimeter by centimeter.
Until the only memories left
Are the pictures,
I haven't deleted...yet.
But this ending feels more like a suicide.
I never got to say goodbye.
