Lowest Rung (paradelle)

All have rare brilliance bestowed upon them
All have rare brilliance bestowed upon them
greatness kept, distant clouds, of hope and dreams
greatness kept, distant clouds, of hope and dreams
All have hope and dreams bestowed upon them
of greatness' brilliance kept distant clouds rare

seeing dust bowls and rain reaching in muddy quarter
seeing dust bowls and rain reaching in muddy quarter
only occasionally rare brilliance finds diamonds
only occasionally rare brilliance finds diamonds
only occasionally rain finds diamonds in dust bowl
rare brilliance seeing, reaching, in muddy quarter

sometimes in a dirty bag tender dies
sometimes in a dirty bag tender dies
That shinny penny quality lives dirty
That shinny penny quality lives dirty
That quality, penny dirty, dies bag
sometimes shinny lives tender

All have greatness bestowed upon them
sometimes greatness' quality kept in a dirty muddy bag
seeing only dust bowls and rain clouds distant
occasionally reaching in to find a shinny penny,
tender quarter, or rare brilliance diamonds
greatness that dies or lives in hope and dreams

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.

I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
