Electric Lady

Marvin Gaye - Poem by Electric Lady

Heaven has an endless heart
The music that lives is the music that gives
See how powerful your love shines
Through water and through wine
Distant lovers fade into the background
People marching in the streets
Singing songs in righteous harmony
We are ignited as one
Traveling in the humid wind
Lonely lives are destined to be beautiful
I often dream about killing myself in the limelight
And just being me for a change
Hearts thicken like solid clay
In a world where you are near
And I wonder if you read my poetry
Lost in space as well as time
You will find that I am inspired by you
And the other million people in my life
The powers of poetry and politics collide
One should never surrender to the chilling bells
For you are Marvin Gaye
A man adorning resistance very intimately
Your beauty remains breathless like a stallion
Running across a field of dreams
As stars become stars
In the midst of a perfect day.

Let no rhyme be left unspoken
I am not here to forsake you
You are my Muse of forbidden gravity
I never want to erase you
Freedom rings in the park
Where all the little children play
And they hear your music
For heaven has an endless voice.
