Mind, Oh My Mind

Mind, mind
Where now do you wander?
Do you stray to far-off lands
To search for your own kind?

Mind, you're like a scribble
And I'm sorry it's that way
I'm sorry for the pain you go through
Each second of each day

Mind, you are erratic
Jumping between ideas oh so fast
Racing through thoughts like a slalom
Concentration can never last

Mind, you give me hope
Despite the pain we've both been through
Because you keep me imagining a better life
And believing it could one day be true

poet Alfred Lord Tennyson

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
