My Name Is Matthew

Copyright (c) 2005 Van Wood

My name is Matthew. I'm really pleased to meet you.

You look surprised to see me at your door.

I'm the Tax Collector from the local village sector

And you're the one that I've been looking for.

Now I've come to make amends for my hidden sins

I must confess I've cheated you before.

No...No one put me to it; I just felt I had to do it

Before I leave this job for something more.

The man called Jesus came my way; it was just the other day;

And all He simply said was

'Follow Me.'

Now I’d give up all I own to make His way my own...

And all He simply said was

'Follow Me'

Poem of the Day

poet Alfred Edward Housman

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
