Night Rainbow - Poem by Marie Shine

You are
the beautiful rainbow
which spans the dark sky
of my life
In colours iridescent
you light up
the neon sign
in my heart
which says
I Love You...

I love this metaphor of a NIGHT RAINBOW. At first it seems like an oxymoron, but on reflection it's possible to imagine levels of darkness and also transient shafts of light illuminating the darkness, and revealing a iridescent
rainbow shining against the darkness. I think you have discovered a wonderful metaphor for love, which emphasizes its shadows and nocturnal existence. But at the end of the poem with the Neon sign proclaiming love we are no longer in the shadows. (Report) Reply
