! ! No Bullshit Diane

  An obstinate leftie
with the heart of a lion
and the legs of a truckie -
she could arm-wrestle any bloke
and win!

In her grubby runners
and op shop clothes -
she had more compassion
(and freckles)
than anyone I've ever known.

No bullshit Diane -
irreverent, unpretentious
and straight as a die,
taught at the Co-op school
where my three played out their primary years.

She was a great bus driver,
gardener, cubby builder
and bull-ant nest destroyer.
She loved telling stories
and didn’t mind spelling mistakes.

She went up North
during the Nineties.
Gave those Kouri kids
the same no bullshit devotion
we'd had for twelve years.

Dyed her hair bright red too, I'm told!
I wonder what she's up to now?

No BS Dianne sounds like a wonderful person, so true to herself, no bs - triumphantly human. No bs 10, Ali

Diane is a larger than life character. I love her
for her compassion, freckles and her way with
children. May she be appreciated whatever
she is doing, red hair and all. Brilliant
write, Alison.

Love,

she's no Lady Di, is she? .... but still a lovable character in her own right!

Dear Alison, Your art of poetry is very unique in personalities reflection. Even from long distances and cultural diversifications one can see the real image of the person in the mirror of your words.

Your powers of observation and of penning them are second to none, Allie. You always build up an entire personality for us in a few short perfectly-selected words, and as so often here, by asking a question or rather musing, you leave your reader with similar reflections. The art of poetry indeed. Brilliant. t x

Bloody hell I nearly married a sheila like that but her name was June. I have no idea why they didn't call her Jack. Anyway she ran off with me best mate's missus
and he was upset cos they took the bloody dog-he really loved that dog.
I needed this Allie after a week in that bloody Coronary Care. 10
