Nostalgia

There's this kid on a
Swingset outside my school
I can see her through the window
In honors history
She reminds me of me
When i was five years old
How i used to swing higher
And higher and at the
Very top, i jumped
Of course, it only resulted
In scraped knees and
Woodchips in my clothes
But somehow
In my five year old mind
It was worth it
For the nanosecond i spent
With the world far beneath me
And the
Wind in my hair.

poet Charles Stuart Calverley

He stood, a worn-out City clerk —
