A good Christmas poem
is best started in November,
maybe even mid October.
You learn after awhile.
Those one-two-three day before,
week before quickies never have
the staying power of a
two month rewrite ten times poem.
Just another fact to take into consideration
for the serious poet!
Like canary breeders having to kill chicks
right from the egg that don’t come up to
show quality standards.
Cause wasting food space and time on them
is just not worth it!
If you want to be considered serious breeder.
Yeah, It’s a cruel world, around Christmas time
to mid January,
that ‘peace on earth good will towards man’ season
The heart of the canary breeding season.
Especially if you’re a canary chick
born from two show quality bird,
destined to be a blue ribbon winner
in my hatchery.
