Treasure Island

Tyler Wilcox

Still dripping condensation
The heat of freshly expelled
Breath landscapes
Paint pictures on foggy glass

Everything looks beautiful
Bathed in early morning light
The powder blue skies offer
No imposition on her

Perfectly conceived shudder.
Penobscot county line shines
A bright lighthouse, drawing
Through Boston and Kennebunk

Like blood drawn through sterile needle.
The breasts of the morning form extravagant angles
Sunrise over pine trees hints at hidden clitoris
Sparkling like dawn on Pushaw.

Your muffled laughter
Echoes in a mausoleum
And I'm sleeping on the floor
And too sick to get up!

We sat by the fire,
Not saying much
You had a lot on your mind
That night, I guess.

The stars flicker
Like cosmic eyes;
Blinking their lewd suggestions,
Zeus has nothing on you.

North Atlantic waves
Lapped against our chests
A husky bark echoed on the sand
While I laughed at your absurdities.

The mountains stood like sentinels
Keeping watch, diligent chaperones
More effective than my insecurities.
My elevation was grandiose,

Yours was compelling.
The Perseid meteor shower
Rained blue over white Big Dipper
The firmament seemed

Ready to collapse, like water weight.
The comets baby blue tails
Burned like kerosene lanterns
Grinning a wicked smile.

Cigarettes sit like tally marks
Of stalling maneuvers, hopefully deployed
Rice paper skin, so delicately folded
Bulges blue veins like highways

My lips are still tingling
Like MDMA flashback
A hostile staircase
Stretches for miles

The palm reader has no tact
The tarot cards no good news
Circus tricks and crystal balls
Have nothing left to offer
