What is love?
That is a question.
The Word I often said
when I was young,
But now I am too late
or too hopeless to define.
Coz only young people fall in love,
When we get old, we discuss marriage.

But I remembered my grandma’s hands,
full of wrinkles and magic of spice,
kneaded wheat flour with sweet,
into my little belly that I always loved.

I loved her food,
And now I know I loved her.
I think she showed what heaven tastes like.

But I have a picture printed in my mind,
A weak woman who is a single mom,
cooked me 9 o’clock meal every night,
shared her health tips, and silently wept on her bed.

So a single woman bears whole family.
So I think love takes a little bit strength.

But I tasted my neighbor girl’s lips,
3rd grade’s love is just too unclear for any kids,
now I still regret that how I lost her contact,
what if I stayed there, what if she did not move.

College years really sounds fine to my friends,
7 dollars party with free pizza and soda,
hip hop, concerts, movies, and spring break…
well, those just for rich kids, I dropped out into a restaurant.

When all my friends practiced their condom skills,
I was waiting tables with my rubber gloves on.

I read Fareast philosophy: Kindness, Sacrifice, Ritual and Faith;
I search Bible that “Love” hits above 700 times.

Bible says: “Love is God.”
No wonder I cannot find Him, and always missed Him.
But I still want to catch Him, even though I die.

It seems Western literature talks more about love,
Shakespeare used “love” 6457 times in his 43 works,
Homer wrote love about 1000 times in his epic poems,
But I still could not figure out how were their love life.

No answer in classics,
They only asked more questions!
The more research I do, the more confused I get.

One time I saw an Amigo who was crying in bitter tears,
holding a tree, and calling “Yesoo”, the name of Christ,
After a talk, I learned his mom died in his hometown,
he could not go back coz he crossed the border illegally,
he must stay for lowly work to mail back the money to save his family.

I guess those rich politician would never know!

Their moms’ tears are dried out,
Their older brothers are in bony shapes,
And I am spending money on books,

Are you kidding, every fucking poet wants it!

Maybe it is in my mind, or my heart,
Maybe it is a principal I live in.
Maybe I know it when I die, or someone I love die.

I search and torture myself every sleepless night,
When I get tired, I eat painkillers with alcohol to awake,

Or maybe one day I figure out my brain to find out.

Maybe it is in human life.

I am guessing God knows, Jesus knows,
if I really do believe His deeds in Bible.
Father’s forgiveness thru His Son’s sacrifice,
such power and strength brings death to life.
