Questions Of Adultery Poem by Mark Heathcote

Questions Of Adultery

Where can we break eggshells?
And meet as lovers.
When can two lovers kiss and tell?
Their heart's content to one another.
What they've-shared together
under those illicit covers!

If you cheat and I cheat
what of the hurt to others
if we but hurl those empty lies
like a cheap confetti
upon our unsuspecting lovers.
Question: how can we be chaste
or honest with one another.
