The Last Acorn Rain
The Last Acorn Rain
By: Alejandra Berber
Paradox of: Last Day of August by Naomi Shihab Nye
An ant on a laptop
with a pencil on his head
sat five inches from a tree
where the acorns were falling.
Each one exploding
in the battlefield around him.
Took a sample of seconds
til the next would start falling.
This ant who was writing a novel
about his future new daughter,
Your mother the squirrel
could have me as your father,
decided to run a mile
appreciating the acorns with a smile.
If one were to fall
would it hit like a bull dozer?
it remains a secret til tomorrow...
Until then the novel may be read
and purchased by the scorpion
who will cry with a happy conclusion.
The best decision made by Mr. Ant
could have been the rose
or the acorn in hand.
Which would be perfect under the skin?
Love is not hard with a ant father,
squirrel mother, and turtle daughter.
