The Man - Poem by Jake Hautala

The man who claims to be my friend
Is really not any godsend
He lies and cheats and swears and steals
Tells me it's fake when I know it's real
Argues with all I do and say
I look at him smile and nod
He must believe I think he's god
With that big dopey smile upon my face
I better learn to stay in my place
He's got the power and he's got the cash
Which is why he can treat me like such trash
There is no way to make a stand
So I'll pack up my belongings and leave this place
Never looking back, not leaving a trace
