The Race

Running.
Faster, faster, faster.

Though the sun has set,
Still there is light.
If they are my stars,
Then you are my moon, sweet one.
...

Then an angel came down
And whispered in my ear,
'I'm here.'
And as the tears fell,

She said
'I can see.
You'd jump off a bridge,
If it would prove to him
...

I throw my head out the window,
Breathing in the fresh air.
Smelling the night as I had so many time before.
Always comparing...

As the sun sets and the moon rises,
As I look into darkness,

Far away from nothing,
The trees in the sky is what I see.
I hear the wind - it's coming,
Stirring up the pine trees.
...

I lie awake at night,
Thinking about you.
And when I fall asleep,
I dream of you.
...

He saw the pain that lay behind her eyes.
But he didn't see the way she drank in the pain.
He said 'I love you, ' as she turned away in shame.
He didn't see the guilt his words caused her
...

So you press your lips to mine
And breathe a breath of new life into me.
Pulling me back when hope was slowly sifting away.
You become the fire,
