Aine Carroll Poems

Is it really so darn rude,
When you garden in the nude.

Does it drive the people crazy?

2.

I am from Boar and Lion
From Sword and Shield
From Crest and Clan
From Woman and Man
...

My Aunt Myrtle had a turtle
With whom she liked to play.
But the problem with poor turtle
was that he was made of clay.
...

4.

You remind me of winter nights
Cold snow crunching under foot.
My breath fogging in the air.
The cold crisp smell of pine.
...

Bees be a buzzin a buzzin be the bee
but the only problem is there not buzzin in the fields.

Greed is the seed, the seed of which is greed
...

Come back to me
I worry when your gone.
It is not that your not wise
or know not who you are.
...

7.

We met, once.
We danced, once.
We spoke, once.
We laughed, once.
...

You saying my name.
The smell of rain.
A fresh breeze.
The sand in my toes.
...

That smell, salt in the air.
That warm fresh breeze
that plays with my hair.
I turn and lift my face to greet the sea.
...

10.

Within me I hold an ember.
I want you to understand
how strong an ember can be.
...

My favourite time of the day is when it ends.
Everything slows down and takes a breath.
The sun no longer shining retreats to renew eastern shores.
Plants release there potent notes to entice you out.
...

Regardless of age it scares me,
it terrifies and wears me.
I fear that I will be made to sit and dribble,
unable to give out.
...

To want,
with every fibre, every breath.
to want,
every thought all consuming,
...

I seen you today really seen you.
Broken down unable nothing like you used to be.
Did you see me whole and stable.
...

Take it
What you have left me with
Yourself hate became mine.
Take it back
...

Who do we listen to when we are set upon this road?
We were given several implements to help us with our load.
The loudest of these are our hearts and brains.
...

Empowered and emboldened
oh how you have me unfolded
like a petal on the skin
oh how I let you in.

Gardening

Is it really so darn rude,
When you garden in the nude.

Does it drive the people crazy?
When you try to weed the daisies.

And then you bend to check the moles
And they see all those dirty holes.

It really is with attitude
When people look like that at you.

I think its because you garden nude.
You really should have worn a snood.
