we paid him our money

the waning disk of moon
has hurried on so soon

I stifle back a yawn

summer's heat is tempered now
the rains are soon to end

the storm is drumming
soon it will be too late

it never goes away.

I put off a home for a house

I dealt with the world of worry

the rivers were a legacy
they ran with adventure

to ride the river was a step

I am gone away to my island
gone away to my jungle home

there is no one here to vex me

I try to beat the odds
I'm not sure what they are
I've come a long long way
