Beating The Odds Poem by Barry Middleton

Beating The Odds

Rating: 4.5

I try to beat the odds
I'm not sure what they are
I've come a long long way
I do not know how far

I need the aces now
the hardest point to roll
today I throw the dice
upon the line my soul

I'd rather know my fate
and win or lose the game
there are no guarantees
the odds reject the blame

a long unlikely shot
is still at least a chance
I'll toss the bones again
this isn't high finance

Unusual perception of the posibilities ahead us.Sometimes even rationalism does not work.We really need some favour of the goddess Chance. So nicely penned, Barry.

I like this Barry, simple easy to read, flowing and oh so true. We all need just a touch of luck eh...? Cheers, Geoffrey.
