You look me in the eyes and speak my name,
As if my life were nothing but a game,
A kingdom built on foundations of grief,
Where you find your joy and your relief.
...
A line, a spark, a fleeting thrill,
The start of a climb, then the drop of the hill.
From a single taste to a heavy debt,
A life now framed by deep regret.
...
To the world, I am a pillar, standing firm and tall,
The one who holds the ceiling up, the one who will not fall.
'She's the strongest, ' so they whisper, beneath an open sky,
While they miss the rising water and the shadows in my eye.
...
If the vessel is shattered, the wood split apart,
Can it be mended—this beat in my heart?
I've spent a lifetime in 'what comes next, '
Dredging the spirits of a long-faded wreck.
...
A boy cast out when the shadows grew tall,
Shipped away at the first sign of a brawl.
He drifted through life with no place to belong,
Where the walls of a prison became his dark song.
...
You do not like me; that is fine, I know,
I never asked for you to lay the floor below.
If I am not your person, if you cannot stay,
I'll be the one to move the stones out from your way.
...
I love the men with the wild, long hair,
And the spark in their eyes like a silent prayer.
I love the way that a man isn't scared to cry,
To let the tears fall 'neath a heavy sky.
...
A world at war, where countries collide,
With nowhere for the truth to hide.
The engines of power are loud and deep,
While the promises they made us, they never keep.

I am a UK-based poet exploring the raw intersections of life, loss, and the slow climb toward healing. My work often touches on the heavy realities of addiction, the sting of betrayal, and the resilience required to find 'a different whole' amidst the shadows. I am honoured to have my work, 'Nothing But A Game, ' selected as the Poem of the Day on June 4th,2026. Writing is my way of navigating the world's complexities and finding the light that breaks through even the darkest clouds. If my words have moved you or mirrored your own journey, I would be incredibly grateful for your support as I work toward my first full collection. Nothing But A Game.
You look me in the eyes and speak my name,
As if my life were nothing but a game,
A kingdom built on foundations of grief,
Where you find your joy and your relief.
While we are drowning in the tears we cry,
You dance beneath a dark and weeping sky,
Twirling in the rain of our despair,
With a heart as cold as the winter air.
You wait for a victim, a soul to ensnare,
With another trap and a heartless flare,
But your victory is hollow, your glory is thin,
For there is no honor in a game you win.
You trade in the shadows of emotional pain,
Washing your hands in the falling rain,
But the world you've built is a house of sand,
And everything you've won is dust in your hand.
